Villeta, Colombia’s Sweet Town
Just 2 hours from Bogotá, Villeta is where Bogotá locals love to escape the cold and reconnect with warm weather, nature and calm.
A town with history and its own flavor
Villeta is a municipality in Cundinamarca known as “Colombia’s Sweet Town”. Its history goes back to colonial times: it was founded in 1551. For centuries the region was the heart of panela and sugarcane production, an activity that still defines its culture and economy today.
Set in the Villeta river valley, about 800 meters above sea level, it enjoys a warm, steady climate all year round. That is why, since the 19th century, it has been the favorite getaway for people from Bogotá.
